Article | Zodiac Painting Organizing Committee - December 29, 2025, 23:44

Q1: What are the deadlines for registration, payment, and artwork submission?
A:
Based on suggestions from the principal and several art teachers, and considering the actual schedule during the holiday period, the unified deadline for registration, payment, and submission of digital copies of entries for this competition is:
Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM (ET)
Please ensure registration, payment, and artwork upload are completed before the deadline. Only participants who have successfully completed registration and payment will be eligible to compete.

Q2: Can we register first and then complete the painting later?
A:
Yes. After successful registration, children can continue to refine their artwork until the deadline. However, the digital copy of the artwork must be uploaded before 1:00 PM on January 17.

Q3: Do we need to submit both a digital copy and the physical artwork?
A:
Yes. This competition consists of two stages:
Online Preliminary Selection (Digital Copy)
Final Judging (Physical Artwork)
Physical artworks do not need to be mailed separately by parents. They will be collected, labeled, and submitted to the organizing committee by partner art teachers or designated drop-off points.

Drop-off locations include:
· Kanata Chinese School
· Tian Tian Chinese School
· Capital Chinese School
· Xinhua Chinese School
· Tian Cai Art School
· Lu Feng Art Studio
· Jade’s Art Studio
· Angel Dream Art
· Meihui Art Space

Q4: Does the artwork need a label? Where should it be placed?
A:
Yes, all entries must have a competition label attached. To ensure fairness, impartiality, and anonymity during the final judging, please note:
· The label must be attached to the back of the artwork.
· The front of the artwork must not display the name, school, studio, or any identifying information.
· Please avoid signing or leaving any personally identifiable information on the front.
This measure is to prevent judges from being influenced by any non-artwork factors during the final judging stage.

Q5: Who fills out and attaches the artwork label?
A:
After successful registration and payment, the organizing committee will send a unique participant number in a confirmation email. Please inform the partner art teacher or designated drop-off point of this number when submitting the physical artwork.

The artwork label will be uniformly filled out and attached to the back of the artwork by the partner art teacher or designated drop-off point before submission to the organizing committee. Parents and students do not need to attach it themselves.

The online preliminary selection will combine professional jury evaluation and public online voting for a comprehensive assessment of entries. This process will determine the shortlist of artworks advancing to the final judging.

Q7: When does the online preliminary selection end?
A:
The online preliminary judging will be completed by Saturday, January 24, 2026. Physical artworks will be submitted to the organizing committee by partner teachers or drop-off points by the same date.
