Our Mission
Ottawa Chinese Language School Charity (OCLS) is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-sectarian community organization dedicated to promoting Chinese language and culture in Ottawa.
Founded in 1972 and formally registered as a charitable organization in 1974, OCLS is the first Chinese language school established in the Ottawa region and remains the only registered charity devoted to advancing Chinese education and cultural understanding.
For over five decades, OCLS has worked closely with governments, school boards, and community organizations to support Chinese language schools and cultural groups. Our mission is to help students appreciate and understand the richness of Chinese culture through language learning, cultural exchange, and community engagement - nurturing both cultural identity and intercultural harmony.
