I am Wang Yu (Jade Wang), a professional art teacher and a member of the Canadian Chinese Arts Association. I graduated with a major in art education and have been dedicated to the field of art education for over thirty years.
Having over twenty years of art teaching experience in China, after immigrating to Canada, I always hoped to allow this expertise to continue taking root and shining in this new cultural environment. Therefore, in 2014, I founded Jade’s Art Studio, committed to helping students establish independent and mature artistic language, explore personalized color expression, and systematically guide them in entering art high schools and excellent art institutions, all while continuously enhancing their aesthetic appreciation and professional skills.
Years of practice and accumulation have yielded heartwarming results. Many students from the studio have been admitted to prestigious institutions such as Sheridan College's Animation Department, York University's Design Department, University of Waterloo's Architecture Department, and Canterbury Arts High School. They have also repeatedly won important awards in professional art competitions like Young at Art Ottawa.
My involvement with the Zodiac Painting Exhibition began last year, and I am deeply honored to have met so many like-minded friends. I sincerely appreciate the organizing committee's dedication in creating this culturally rich and educationally meaningful event. The competition uses art to connect Chinese-Canadian children with the profound depths of their traditional culture, which embodies our understanding of time, life, and nature. Through participation, children's passion for painting is quietly nurtured and their skills are honed, making it a true journey of cultural discovery.
I encourage students to join art competitions. Through real creation, they learn to think calmly and express attentively, creating unique works in their growth. This experience is a rare and precious reward for children.
The competition has been significantly improved this year, with broader award coverage and expanded exhibition opportunities. Winning works will be showcased not only at the award ceremony but also at Parliament Hill and key Spring Festival venues. These extended displays enhance social impact and greatly support children's artistic confidence and cultural identity.
Finally, I sincerely wish the Year of the Horse Zodiac Painting Competition great success and a perfect conclusion!
May childlike innocence and art gallop side by side, and may every stroke of the brush lead to growth and hope!
